On Friday, 5 December 2025, I attended SONS: SER O NO SER — an immersive and contemporary interpretation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet — performed by the legendary Spanish theatre group La Fura dels Baus and directed by Carlus Padrissa at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, Italy.

This is immersive theatre at its most radical. The audience stands and moves freely through the industrial hall, while the performance erupts around us: actors covered in clay pushing through the crowd, water spraying from above, camera operators walking among us and projecting live footage — in black-and-white or vibrant colour — on massive surrounding walls.

There is no distance between spectators and actors. We are inside Hamlet’s doubts and chaos, physically and emotionally part of the story.

A bold, exhilarating, and unforgettable theatre experience in Milan — one that transforms Shakespeare’s To be or not to be into a visceral and modern confrontation..

Wo Theater dich umgibt – Immersiver Hamlet von La Fura dels Baus

Am Freitag, den 5. Dezember 2025 besuchte ich SONS: SER O NO SER — eine beeindruckende immersive Interpretation von Shakespeares Hamlet der weltbekannten Theatergruppe La Fura dels Baus, unter der Regie von Carlus Padrissa, in der Fabbrica del Vapore in Mailand.

Das Publikum steht und bewegt sich frei durch den Raum, während die Aufführung rund um uns geschieht: mit Lehm bedeckte Schauspieler drängen sich durch die Menge, Wasserregen von oben, Kameraleute filmen zwischen uns und projizieren ihre Live-Aufnahmen — teils in Schwarzweiß, teils in intensiven Farben — auf die großen Hallenwände.

Die Grenze zwischen Zuschauenden und Bühne verschwindet vollständig: Wir befinden uns mitten in Hamlets Zweifeln und seiner inneren Zerrissenheit.Ein mutiges, körperliches und unvergessliches Theatererlebnis, das Shakespeares „Sein oder Nichtsein“ in die Gegenwart katapultiert.

Venerdì 5 dicembre 2025 ho assistito a SONS: SER O NO SER, una potente reinterpretazione immersiva dell’Amleto di Shakespeare, messa in scena dal celebre collettivo catalano La Fura dels Baus, con la regia di Carlus Padrissa presso la Fabbrica del Vapore a Milano.

Il pubblico rimane in piedi e si muove liberamente nello spazio, mentre lo spettacolo esplode tutto attorno: attori ricoperti di argilla che attraversano la folla, spruzzi d’acqua, operatori video che seguono i performer e proiettano immagini in diretta — ora in bianco e nero, ora a colori vibranti — sulle pareti industriali della sala.

Non esiste confine tra scena e spettatore: siamo realmente dentro i dubbi e il caos di Amleto.Una esperienza teatrale radicale, fisica ed emozionante, che trasforma il celebre “Essere o non essere” in una sfida visiva e contemporanea.
